U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Connor Boyd, 47th Civil Engineer Squadron engineering apprentice, pulls a tarp into place while constructing a tent during Operation Titan Haymaker at Laughlin Air Force Base’s Auxiliary number one airfield Spofford, Texas, May 23, 2024. The purpose of Operation Titan Haymaker is to familiarize Airmen with the concepts and functions of agile combat employment (ACE) in a safe but challenging environment to prepare them for future strategic conflict and great power competition. One objective of Operation Titan Haymaker is to inculcate a resource constrained mindset via the dynamic prepositioning of assets then “living off the land” by assessing, adapting to, and operating with limited equipment, vehicles, materials and personnel.
